Initially, an ATi All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro video card was
installed. Some information in this document, such as earlier benchmarks,
relates to the AIW 9700 Pro unless noted otherwise.
On 11/28/04, the AIW 9700 Pro displayed a lot of video
artifacts (blocks) during POST and especially in programs using DirectX, such as
3DMark2001. An RMA was requested at the ATi website on 12/3/2004.
The defective video card was replaced under warranty with the
ATi
All-in-Wonder 9800 Pro.

The video card out of the box has the power extension cable
plugged in. There is an unused floppy power connector provided by the power
supply and therefore the extension cable is not needed. It was removed by unlatching the connector
with a screwdriver.
The AIW 9800 Pro was installed in place of the AIW 9700 Pro
using the same cables and connectors. The display drivers were re-installed
after the AIW 9800 card installation. Refer to the
Video Drivers section for
the most recent software installation information.
Installed video card into AGP slot. Connected a
floppy power lead from the power supply to the connector on the video
card. |

The DVI-I to VGA adapter is only needed for displays
without DVI-I input. Used DVI-I to connect to the monitor. |

After connecting a display, keyboard and mouse the power-on
screens are:

The POST messages are:
- No floppy disk detected
- No IDE hard disk detected
After pressing F1:

The power supply fan monitor causes the error – the fan is
spinning at about 1,450 rpm and the BIOS monitor flags any speed below 1500 rpm as too low.
The workaround is to set Power:Hardware Monitor:PSU fan to <Ignore> in the
BIOS setup.

POST vocal message: “System completed power on self
test”.
